About
My name is Mia Wexford, and I am an Australian IT security specialist with a long-standing focus on VPN development, online privacy, and secure network architecture. My professional journey combines formal academic training with fifteen years of hands-on experience across the Australian cybersecurity landscape.
I completed my degree at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), where I developed a strong foundation in network engineering, systems security, and digital communications. My studies at UTS shaped my technical approach and gave me an analytical framework that I still rely on today when designing secure, resilient solutions for real-world environments.
Beyond my academic background, my expertise is built on extensive professional practice:
2008–2012: I worked as a Network Administrator and Security Analyst at a major Australian telecommunications company. This role gave me deep insight into ISP operations, network traffic management, data collection systems, and enterprise-level security implementation.
2012–2016: I served as an IT Security Consultant for small and medium-sized businesses across Melbourne. During this period, I implemented end-to-end security solutions, conducted vulnerability assessments, strengthened network infrastructures, and trained teams on cybersecurity best practices.
2016–Present: I have been working as an Independent Security Consultant and Educator, specialising in VPN technology and privacy solutions for individuals and families. My work includes one-on-one security consultations, privacy-focused audits, family device protection, educational content creation, and continuous research into emerging digital threats. Much of my current work revolves around developing practical, accessible VPN tools and guiding users through safe online habits.
In parallel with my consulting practice, I have been involved in Australian privacy advocacy. I have contributed to public consultations related to data retention laws, participated in cybersecurity forums, and collaborated with privacy-oriented organisations to support and strengthen digital rights across Australia.
Today, I continue to combine technical engineering, security analysis, and public education to help Australians navigate the complexities of the modern digital environment. My mission remains consistent: to make strong, reliable privacy protection accessible, understandable, and achievable for everyone.
