I totally get that

I live in Port Alberni and it’s been tricky finding legit local services that aren’t either ancient or part of some random Facebook thread. A few months ago I was hunting for someone to repair a pressure washer and ended up scrolling through Yelp, Craigslist, and all the usual stuff, just hitting dead ends. Eventually I remembered a friend mentioning this business directory bc and gave it a shot. Honestly, I was surprised it actually worked. Found a guy like fifteen minutes from me who fixed the thing in a day and even helped me figure out a better way to store it for the winter. What I liked about using that site was how focused it was—it didn’t throw me a list of corporate chains in Victoria or sites that haven’t been updated since 2010. It’s all small businesses, locally run stuff, and they seem to update it often. I’ve since used it to find a local print shop for my kid’s school fundraiser and a tailor who repaired a zipper I thought was a lost cause. Not saying it’s a miracle tool or anything, but for folks living in the smaller BC towns, it’s nice to have a resource that actually reflects what’s nearby and functioning. Feels way more grounded than the usual internet chaos.

Some of the most useful places I’ve found over the years weren’t because I was looking in the right spot—they just kind of showed up when I wasn’t even looking. Feels like half of life is just about paying attention when the good stuff finally crosses your path.
